Hyundai may have never been a brand synonymous with producing the driver's car. Their models are often used as some sort of punchline to illustrate what we gearheads don't want in our cars. There have been some contenders throughout the years to ward off the bad jokes, but the quirky, asymmetrical Veloster that followed the Genesis earns the most credit for injecting new energy into Hyundai's image. Its release had us all thinking that the real spirited driving experience finally made its way to the well-known manufacturer.

While the Genesis Coupe might be a piece of Hyundai History now, the Veloster continues to deliver the sporty flair to the car maker's lineup.

No matter the manufacturer, the term "sports car" seems to have a special relationship with the color red. Something about this vibrant hue has become synonymous with a vehicle's performance characteristics. This is a trend that Honda seems to have taken to heart. If you look back to all the fast Hondas that rolled out of the factory, at the very least they're adorned with Honda's scarlet badge on the front grille. Regardless of what angle you look at the FK8, the accenting splashes of red stand out like a coat of arms. From the pinstripes lining the bumpers to the encapsulating red bucket seats and pop of the Type R's engine bay centerpiece, the cover, there's an indication that the CTR belongs to a certain class of car.

Got Trucks, Got Jeeps (VOL. 1) - Catch Can R&D Part 2: Designing The Final Product

Jeeps are built to be rugged, all-terrain vehicles. We can bet that most of the aftermarket parts you purchase for your Jeep are designed to make it tougher. There's no reason for our upcoming catch can kit to be any different. Our engineers have made this can nearly indestructible and will be able to handle any abuse your 2007-2011 3.8L Wrangler can throw at it.

In our last update, we discussed our plans for how we wanted to mount this catch can. We determined that the best location for a bracket was right behind the ECU. We could use the stock bolts that are already there, and the components can attach to the chassis, making it a solid and sensible location.

Clean Camaro - Catch Can R&D, Part 1: Prototype Design

Success in engineering is rarely the result of one attempt. Our products go through revision after revision before they ever see the light of day (or darkness of your engine bay). This goes for complex products, like oil cooler systems and intercoolers, to seemingly simple catch can brackets. Our engineers must consider every situation that could occur in a vehicle, then design our products to handle them. The development process for our 5th Gen Camaro SS direct-fit oil catch can is no exception to that rule.

Success is also rarely the product of one person's efforts. Teamwork plays a major role in every product here at Mishimoto. From conception to release, our projects are touched by just about every Mishimoto employee. When it comes to designing and developing a catch can kit, more ideas create a better product. That's why our engineer, Jason, brought in one of our draftsmen, Josh, to help with this kit's design.

This wasn't Josh's first time designing a product, however.
