Any EcoBoost is synonymous with power potential. Sure, these Broncos roll off of the assembly line with plenty of grunt, but we enthusiasts always want more. The hidden vault of speedy goodness is simple to find, but breaking in can turn into quite the heist without the right tools. Luckily, our engineering team has been hard at work crafting the proper implements to keep charged air temperatures low and give these wild horses a longer stride.

Our design has come a long way since the sheet metal frame and 3D printed end tanks and has appropriately filled out its skeleton into its final form. The growth spurt started in the core with some much-needed core thickness and additional volume, ideal for giving either EcoBoost some extra pep in its step. The innards of this new core have also been updated to a much more robust bar-and-plate construction providing vastly improved durability over the

Lifting the hood on your 2.7L powered Bronco is like unfurling a roadmap. Roads and trails are heading in every direction to countless destinations that all seem to cross, merge, or repel each other at some point that can make anyone's head spin. However, carefully examining this labyrinth of possible directions can make the right path shine through and easily plot the best destination for your journey. While not quite as intricate as the highway system, finalizing this intake system still took some expert navigation.

It's a maze under the hood, but our engineer, Ye, plotted a route with the plans laid out in our last post, but now that our production sample has arrived, we're ready for the final journey. Before we set off, though, let's take a closer look at the new kit.

Base camp for our intake journey was set up with the fresh new airbox we designed to be compatible across the Bronco platform. Like

The right gear is essential to any adventure. This, in turn, makes any adventure the perfect excuse to upgrade your load-out, and who doesn't like to have the latest and greatest equipment? The same could be said about the rig that promises adventure-ready status at all times. While Ford made sure to load these Broncos out with a diverse arsenal of off-roading bits, there were some aspects that we still needed that excuse to upgrade.

Just needing to move a component to clear space for more off-roading equipment is one best excuses to upgrade your systems, and we devised just the thing. This high-mounted intercooler is ideal for those looking to hide a winch or plotting to improve the Bronco's approach angle. Now that it's in the shop, we're stoked to show off this intercooler's final design and rehome it behind the upper grille.

Our high-mount design has really filled out since the metal skeleton we showed in the last post. The sheet metal frame and 3D printed end tanks have evolved to

Any expedition requires preparation, especially one that involves blazing your own path. The success of this journey lies in the tools and equipment we're packing, so proper vetting and maintenance are essential to ensure these implements are a trustworthy addition to the trip. Otherwise, they'll leave you stranded like the dulled machete from our first installment. The Polaris RZR is a trailblazer and the right tool for any adventure, but some components aren't always up to the task. Luckily, we've been working to strengthen these weak links to get it ready for its next venture.

It's been a few weeks since our prototyping phase, but now the physical outline of our kit has finally filled out into our complete production-level kit. Our engineer, Dan, is eager to rehome the RZR's cooling system, and we want to show off his hard work.

Keeping fresh air flowing through the cores and coolant contained

Any well-stocked off-roading kit is only as valuable as the tools it contains. Wrenches and recovery gear turn into dead weight when they snap under pressure, leaving you even more stranded than before. Meticulous engineering and rigorous testing combined with exhaustive research are needed to assemble the most trustworthy kit. These are the same qualities that make the Polaris RZR XP Turbo the right tool for navigating any terrain, and likely exactly how you ended up with one.

Even after the immense effort put into these machines, they still fall short in some respects. Mud and obstacles on the trail can clog or skewer the front-mounted cooling system and dull the sharp versatility of Polaris' peppy off-roader. Like the blade this side-by-side takes its name from, the RZR needs to be routinely honed to cut through treacherous terrain better.

Just like maintaining these precise blades, it takes

Let's take a trip. We're in a dense, tropical jungle, trudging through the thick vegetation to reach our final destination. We're searching for something so old that all trails were lost to the test of time with only jungle remaining. The only path forward is the one we're blazing with our trusty machete. You swing your arm to carve out a new passage through a tangle of vines. "THWANG!" The blade skips off the bark armoring the thick web obstructing your forward momentum. You make another attempt, this time aiming for a pocket of thick leaves. The blade swings true, with the brush only bending to the will of the machete. Quickly, they snap back in place, mostly unscathed and still standing in the way of the destination. The machete you put you trusted to blaze a path through uncharted territory is dull, and the blade is covered in the remnants of past plants hacked, bringing your expedition to a halt.

  7. Trickle Down Power - 2016+ Infiniti Q50/Q60 3.0T Performance Intercooler R&D, Part 5 - The Final Form

    Trickle Down Power - 2016+ Infiniti Q50/Q60 3.0T Performance Intercooler R&D, Part 5 - The Final Form

Who isn't stoked to show off their new threads? Nothing quite beats the confidence boost we get from a pair of slick shoes, perfect-fitting jeans, or that new band tee getting noticed. The same could be said for the intercooler kit destined for the VR30DDTT. Our prototypes already showed off their cooling abilities on the dyno, but their drab, utilitarian look wasn't inspiring that morale boost. With our production units arriving here at the Mishimoto R&D facility, however, these intercoolers are feeling themselves and confident to post that racy 'fit check.

Our prototype kit'sau natrualelook was done to keep up with our development timeline. We typically use the first production samples off the assembly line to perform our testing, but we wanted to speed things up, so they stayed naked. This time, though, our intercoolers are clad in a slick black, micro-wrinkle powder coat finish complete with machined surfaces. The intercooler's latest fashion choice looks right at home under the hood

    Feed the Beast - 2012-2018 BMW F1X M5/M6 Performance Intercooler R&D, Part 3 - Production Sample

Feeding the beast that lives under the hood of BMW's F1X generation M5 and M6 is a multicourse meal. The twin-turbo V8 has quite the appetite, and no forced induction power buffet would be complete without a course of intercoolers. Of course, they're a staple part of any balanced turbocharged meal for a growing powerhouse. Our intercoolers are fresh off the production line and looking mighty appetizing. Before the S63 scarfs these intercoolers down, though, we wanted to get a closer look at Mitch's design come to life.

When we last left off, these intercoolers were two chunks of shaped plastic, 3D printed to triple our check the fitment in the already cramped engine bay. Now though, we have the real deal, and we're eager to show them off.

Style is an integral part of the process, and we only wanted to enhance the wow factor when you lift the hood of your M5 or M6. To keep with the sleek look of the tidy engine bay, we opted for a sleek micro-wrinkle black powder coating, making these

  9. High Horse - 2021+ Ford Bronco Borne Off-Road Snorkel R&D, Part 1 - Concept and Design Plans

High Horse - 2021+ Ford Bronco Borne Off-Road Snorkel R&D, Part 1 - Concept and Design Plans

The Bronco rolled back into relevance on a high horse. During the decades-long hiatus from the streets and trails, Ford had ample time to plot their domination of the off-roader market, and so far, it seems to be going to plan. From towering tires to sophisticated trail cameras and everything in between, these Broncos roll off the assembly line fully prepared to dominate any obstacle that gets in their way. However, as well equipped as these wild machines are, even the most prepared adventurer can find themselves tumbling from that high horse, so adding layers of protection is ideal.

One of the best means of protecting your Bronco from the trials and tribulations of the great outdoors is with a snorkel. But with all of the protective measures integrated into the Bronco's design, how would raising the EcoBoost's induction point keep the engine internals safe? Well, we're glad you asked!

Installing a snorkel on your rig defends your intake system against two main trail hazards. The first
