  1. Strength of Heart - Transmission Cooler R&D, Part 1: Stock Review

Strength of Heart - Transmission Cooler R&D, Part 1: Stock Review

If you ask most drivers what the heart of their vehicle is, they'll likely say the engine. The engine provides power and is often the most advertised part of the powertrain, but it's not alone. In fact, if you ask somebody who tows heavy loads, they might say the heart of their car or truck is the transmission. A vehicle's transmission is responsible for delivering all the power the engine makes to the wheels, and its success or failure in that role can make or break the vehicle, especially when towing. Few drivers know the importance of a well-designed transmission better than owners of 6.7L Cummins-powered RAM trucks and the engineers at Mishimoto.

We also know that it doesn't matter how well-designed a transmission is if you can't keep it cool. Over the years, we've developed transmission coolers for nearly every iteration of Cummins-powered RAM; now, it's time to apply that experience to one of the latest generations with a performance transmission cooler for the 2015-2018 6.7L

  2. Backbone of Performance, Transmission Line Kit: Release

Backbone of Performance, Transmission Line Kit: Release

Every truck owner knows it doesn't matter how powerful or reliable your engine is if you can't get any power to the wheels. If the engine is the heart of the drivetrain, the transmission is its backbone, holding it all together and letting the power flow to the wheels. The transmission mated to your 2001-2010 LB7, LLY, LBZ, or LMM 6.6L Duramax is essential to everything your truck does, and keeping it cool is crucial.

Upgrading your transmission cooler with a Mishimoto performance cooler is a good start, but the fluid still needs to get to the cooler. The stock Duramax transmission cooler lines are fine enough for a new, stock truck, but over time the stock hard lines can begin to degrade.

PERFORMANCE HEAT EXCHANGER, FITS TOYOTA GR SUPRA 3.0L, 2020+

Nothing shows progression in technology quite like integration. The means of creating one item that performs the function of four is the way of the future. Just take your mobile phone that you're likely reading this on. Fifteen years ago, it was just a phone designed for talking and texting, with some limited internet access, and now it's a computer in your pocket. Similarly, the intercooler inside of the B58's intake manifold is a pure form of integration in the name of performance. The marriage of these two components, though, means that the intercooler's heat exchanger is now the key to performance gains for the A90 Supra, and we here at Mishimoto are on the case.

PERFORMANCE INTAKE, FITS TOYOTA GR SUPRA 3.0L 2020+

Evolution is the gradual development of something from a simple to a more complex form over time. Much like the fish that first scraped their way from the primordial ooze to eventually develop into the complex creatures that we are today, the Supra also had humble beginnings. Starting as just a sportier trim level on the Celica, the Supra has grown to fit into its rightful spot in the automotive food chain. Even today, the Supra is still adapting to its environment and developing a better breathing apparatus.

Unlike those prehistoric fish, we have technology on our side to reduce the evolutionary process from a few million years to a few million seconds. Ye gets the design process started by extracting the stock

  5. Working on a Cooler Coyote - Oil Cooler Kit R&D, Part 5 - 2018+ Update

Working on a Cooler Coyote - Oil Cooler Kit R&D, Part 5 - 2018+ Update

The Mustang is one of the longest living nameplates in the history of muscle cars; it's only natural that it continues to evolve with the times. In 2018, Ford launched the latest iteration of its flagship pony car, toting the newest generation of 5.0L Coyote V8 and a series of aesthetic updates. Despite the decades of updates and evolution, the S-550 still has to contend with any engine's nemesis - heat.

The latest Coyote received a bump in power by way of overhauling the fuel system, but when it comes to cooling the oil, it could still use some improvements. Luckily for us, Ford's fueling updates didn't mean a significant change to the overall design of the engine, which means that we didn't need to run a complete re-test of our oil cooler. We already determined how well our oil cooler performed

Take in the World - Intake R&D Part 2: Flow Testing

We often talk about how your vehicles are more than just the sum of their parts. Your Ranger isn't about getting from point A to point B with a few bags of mulch in the bed. It's about being able to go anywhere, anytime, and still fit in the garage. The parts under the hood have similar stories. An intercooler isn't just about cooling charge air; it's about letting you spend longer with your right foot on the floor and letting your turbo power your adventures. Radiators don't just cool your engine, they let your truck work as hard as you do. Intakes let you, and your engine, take in more of the world. But even if a vehicle is about more than the sum of its parts, it still pays to look at each of those parts on its own when modifying any vehicle. The 2019+ Ranger's intake might be about taking in the world, but at its core, it's about flow.

To make the Ranger intake better, we need to know where it stands. To find that out we start by measuring the core of its performance: flow. Our

Building Endurance - Performance Radiator Kit R&D, Part 1 - Stock Review

PERFORMANCE ALUMINUM RADIATOR KIT, FITS TOYOTA GR SUPRA 3.0L, 2020+

At the first official utterance of the Supra's resurgence there was an immediate clamoring from fans about the car's performance. While the headlines were dominated with power and handling figures, there were few considerations of the A90's endurance. Keeping a performance car cool is a serious undertaking and cutting a track day or spirited drive short due to overheating is less than ideal. That's why we here at Mishimoto have your back to ensure you can stay on the track longer, but before we reveal our planned improvements, let's dive into the Supra's stock system.

    Coolant Switchboard

The BMW and Toyota (mostly BMW) engineering tag-team meant business when it came to keeping the Supra's B58 cool. Not only did they incorporate a 4-phase system to make efficient use of the cooling system, but they also included 3 radiators to maximize the power of the coolant.

  8. The Top 3 Things to Look for When Choosing an Intercooler

The Top 3 Things to Look for When Choosing an Intercooler

Choosing an intercooler can be intimidating, so we've broken down the top 3 things that we think you should consider when looking for your upgrade.

    #3 End tanks

We're biased when it comes to intercooler end tanks but there are a few choices available on the market - we ranked these from the least impressive option to the highest quality. Each type of end tank comes with its redeeming qualities as well as drawbacks, so we're here to help make your choice easier.

Plastic end tanks are great for stock vehicles because they can be mass-produced far cheaper and lighter than aluminum options. Though failures in plastic tanks are minimal, plastic does face a greater risk when it comes to road debris and rocks. Failures stay minimal"
