Taco Tank – Aluminum Expansion Tank for the 2024+ Toyota Tacoma

With the arrival of the fourth-generation Tacoma and its all-new 2.4L turbocharged powerplant, our engineers jumped at the chance to dive under the hood and get to work. Every new generation brings fresh challenges and fresh opportunities, and for us, that means figuring out where we can improve on OEM design to better serve the drivers who take their trucks beyond the pavement. The expansion tank was one of the first components we had our eyes on.

Like most stock units, it’s made from plastic—a material that works well enough under normal conditions but can show its limits over long-term use. Off-roading, heat cycles, and time itself will eventually take their toll. That’s where our latest upgrade comes in.

Crafted entirely from aluminum and TIG-welded for strength, the Mishimoto Aluminum Expansion Tank for the 2024+ Toyota Tacoma ditches the fragile seams and aging plastic of the OEM unit. But this tank isn’t just about longevity—it’s about practicality, too. Our engineers included a built-in sight glass to make checking coolant levels as easy as glancing under the hood, whether you’re at the trailhead or your driveway.

But looks and materials only tell half the story. The factory tank holds a total of 3000ml (101.44 fl oz). That’s fine for standard use, but we saw an opportunity to do better. Our tank expands the total volume to 4377ml (148 fl oz)—a 46% increase in capacity. The result is a tank that can handle more thermal expansion, more fluid movement, and more punishment before needing your attention.

We also integrated internal baffling to help control coolant movement. In tough terrain, this feature keeps fluid from sloshing wildly, ensuring your cooling system draws consistent flow no matter the angle or pitch of the vehicle. That extra stability can make a big difference when you're bouncing over rocks or crawling steep inclines.

Because this tank replaces the entire OEM unit, it was also crucial that it fit like a glove. Our design is a true direct-fit upgrade for the 2024+ Tacoma with the 2.4L engine, and it even includes a high-performance 1.3-bar Mishimoto radiator cap. This higher pressure cap helps raise the boiling point of your coolant for added thermal headroom—something any off-roader or high-mileage commuter can appreciate.

The finished piece isn’t just an upgrade—it’s an enhancement to your Tacoma’s reliability and a subtle nod to those who take their builds seriously. With a sleek look, rugged construction, and Mishimoto’s lifetime warranty backing it, this expansion tank is a great upgrade for any fourth-gen Tacoma owner.

If you’re building your Tacoma to go farther, last longer, or just look a little cleaner under the hood, this tank has your back. Just like the Tacoma, it’s made to be used—and made to last.
