Product Description
The Mishimoto engineers started with a large 19-row oil cooler and mounted it in the front of the vehicle where it receives the most airflow. Application-specific braided stainless steel lines transfer the oil from the cooler to the engine and feature -10AN fittings for an easy installation. Mishimoto engineers saw consistent temperature decreases of over 40°F using our non-thermostatic sandwich plate, proving that this oil cooler kit can withstand the stress of extreme applications. This 2015-2017 Mustang EcoBoost oil cooler kit is available with either a Sleek Silver or Stealth Black cooler and your choice of the Mishimoto Oil Sandwich Plate or the Mishimoto Thermostatic Oil Sandwich Plate. As with all our Mustang parts, the Mishimoto Mustang EcoBoost Oil Cooler Kit includes the Mishimoto Lifetime Warranty.Please note: Mishimoto fully inspects and cleans all products prior to packaging. However, it is recommended that customers flush the oil cooler with one quart of clean oil prior to installation to remove any debris accumulated during shipping. Prototype Testing Equipment and Setup
Time for the fun part: product testing! Once we had the brackets mocked up, our lines in place, and our sandwich plate installed, it was time to install our sensors to collect data. Second Prototype Fabrication
Thank you for joining us for Part 2 of our oil cooler development for the Ford Mustang 2.3L EcoBoost! Last time, we designed our first prototype and evaluated potential pitfalls. We are now prepared to develop a second design, with airflow as our primary target for improvement over the previous mounting position.
This time, we would be positioning the cooler in the center of the grille, in a horizontal orientation. This would ensure that the entire core is exposed to airflow during vehicle motion. Steve, the lead engineer for this project, grabbed some measurements from the vehicle, and began designing a few brackets in 3D.
