Carry the Weight - Transmission Cooler R&D, Part 2: Design

Simplicity is often the key to great engineering. The
same can be said about Ford's F-150. The F-150 is about function over frills and
getting the job done. Our 2015+ Ford F-150 transmission cooler will follow the
same formula. Our focus will be on one key aspect: use as much of the space
behind the F-150's grille as possible. As we saw in our first post, the stock
transmission cooler only utilizes about 50% of the available space. To increase
that usage to 100% without adding unnecessary complications is where we'll get
the job done, plain and simple.

Ford was kind enough to provide us with convenient mounting
points on either end of the radiator and a hard pipe to connect the outlet port
    on the transmission cooler to

From the outside, you wouldn't think that the modern pickup truck is exactly the evolution of Henry Ford's Model T. Under the surface however, you might find that the two are more related than they appear. The Model T was a car, built for the masses, designed to be affordable, approachable, and to get people where they wanted to go.

It didn't take long for Ford and other manufacturers to realize the potential of an affordable utility vehicle. A vehicle that helped them work, so that they could afford to go places in their car. Pickups have grown to sell almost twice as well as cars since the Model T "Runabout" was introduced in 1925, and it's hard to find a vehicle that can do as much as a pickup. For all the development that has happened in nearly a century, the pickup could still use some improvement to make it a better workhorse.

Next Generation Cooling - Transmission Cooler R&D, Part 1: Stock Review

This 1994-2002 Dodge Ram 5.9L Cummins Transmission Cooler is now available! Click here to check it out!

1994 was an eventful year.  Nelson Mandella became the president of South Africa, OJ Simpson gave the Ford Bronco some free air-time, and Dodge released the 2nd generation Ram pickup that would define the brand for the next thirteen years.

Breaking the blocky, sedan-like mold poured by their competitors' previous generations, the designers of the second-generation Ram looked to the trucks of the 1950's to design an edition that stood out with just the right amount of bravado.  With its rolling fenders and massive front grille, little of the first-generation Ram remained when Dodged revealed the 1994 model. What did remain, however, was the option of getting your workhorse

Transmission Cooling to the duraMAX - 2001-2010 Chevy /GMC Duramax Transmission Cooler, Part 1 - Stock Review

This 2001-2014 Chevy / GMC 6.6L Duramax Transmission Cooler is now available! Click here to check it out!

Extreme heat is always the enemy, especially when it comes to vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission. The Allison gearbox mated with your 6.6L Duramax is no exception. With the high temperatures produced by an automatic transmission, it seems almost cruel that the sweltering summer heat comes when most of the towing of campers, boats, and other outdoor toys happens. GM did include some help to keep your gears cool. Unfortunately, it's a little small.

For such an iconic towing machine, it seems strange to equip it with such a small transmission cooler.

Quick Release! - Ford 7.3L Powerstroke Transmission Cooler Kit

Sometimes there are products we can't wait to get on the market. The sense of urgency follows positive feedback after a release or hinting at a recently started project. There's pride in giving people what they want, what they need. When our 2003-2007 6.0L Powerstroke Transmission Cooler Kit was released, the question that kept coming was if it would fit the 7.3L. What followed was a "no, sorry." That didn't sit well with us. The efforts grew exponentially as more questions surfaced about fitment, and as the number of requests to make a direct fit kit increased.

In retrospect, it would have been best to provide all you 7.3L owners with upgraded cooling when the transmission cooler first launched. The reason why our 6.0L kit wasn't on option then was due to the hose routing. The lines are different. The 6.0L already has hoses that can adapt to our cooler without the necessity of lines from us. The inlets and outlets are in different spots here, so we needed to carefully design hoses that
